Install mods by hand

Workshop subscribe is the path that does not depend on this conflict.

If Steam is available, subscribe on the Workshop and let the client place the files. That is the recommendation, because the two written paths do not match.

The 29 May 2026 announcement says you can put a mod in the save folder. The developer's own Workshop guide shows a game-directory folder, Mods/RangedWeapons/, as the example layout. I am not choosing a winner. If a mod readme names one of those, follow the readme and keep a copy of the save folder first.

The save folder published in the 2023 guide is C:\Users\\AppData\LocalLow\LevenLiu\ZedZone. The game directory is wherever Steam installed app 1211600. People asking how to mod without Steam are in the same conflict: there is still no single folder sentence. I will not invent a third path for a cracked install, and this site does not link one.

Questions

Which folder is correct?

Both sentences are published. Use the Workshop, or follow the mod's own readme and back up the save.

Can I install mods without Steam?

The May post allows a manual copy. It does not describe a non-Steam client, and this page will not link one.
