Co-op
Multiplayer and room codes
Eight is the 1.0 cap. Four was the October preview, and it is still the Horde cap.
The 6 Nov 2026 launch post says online co-op goes up to eight players, with four as the default the host can change. 4Gamer reported the same cap the same day. An October preview had said four. I use eight for the release and I footnote the older sentence instead of deleting it.
Horde Mode is capped at four even after that change. Patch 1.0.4 added a room-list filter for Standard, Horde and Cataclysm, and it fixed rooms that only showed a few results. The same note says co-op guests and Horde runs do not save the world, and the save panel now says so. A room code is how you join; it is a six-digit session code, not a redeem code for items.
Admin-tool commands for hosts are not in the public command guide. I am not publishing a guessed kick or ban syntax. Mods can sync in co-op according to the 1.0 mod notes; the install page covers where files go, because two official sentences disagree.
The store categories list online co-op and LAN co-op. A relay is mentioned in the launch material for rooms that cannot see each other directly. I do not have a port list, so I am not printing one.
Patch 1.0.5 on 7 Nov 2026 fixes character progress earned in another host's room being rolled back after returning to your own world. This is character progress; it does not change the earlier note about guests not saving the host's world (one official source).
