Workbench
The unlock and the build cost are published. A thing called a tool slot is not.
People search for a workbench tool slot. I went through the station pages and the patch notes and found no object by that name. This page will not describe a slot that only exists as a query. What the pages do describe is a production bench.
Fandom and the 2023 Japanese station guide agree on the gate: craft a stone axe and a stone hammer, then unlock the bench under Skill Tree, Technology. The build cost they print is 20 wood, 20 nails, and one iron hammer. Energy is listed as 40 and build time as 04:00 on the wiki. Those two figures are single-source wiki numbers, so the table marks them that way.
Recipes attached to this bench in that same wiki page include metal sheet and metal component from iron plate, a baseball bat, a mace bat, a machete, the katana named Ji, iron and mechanical crossbows, a cooking pot, airbows, a .25 PCP pistol, air rifles, and a homemade shotgun. I am not extending the list with 1.0 guns the wiki never saw. Simple Workbench is the earlier station and does not take this recipe set. If you only need nails and basic parts, the simple bench may be the one the older guide means.
You place it from Build, then Production, after the unlock. The build-menu screenshot shows the benches together. It does not label which icon is this one, so I will not pretend it does.
